Gregory Chase Williamson, 41, captured after fleeing hospital following November arrest

The United Stated Marshals Service has taken 41-year-old Gregory Chase Williamson into custody after he fled from UT Medical Center during a medical evaluation in November.

Williamson was originally charged by Community Engagement Response Team Officers on November 17, 2025, when he was found passed out in a running car at the intersection of Ben Hur Avenue and Wilson Avenue. Once conscious and detained, officers found a handgun, more than seven grams of suspected fentanyl, additional narcotics and over $1,200 in cash. Williamson also admitted to being under the influence of alcohol and drugs.

Multiple charges were placed on Williamson, including convicted felon in possession of a weapon, two counts of resale of Schedule II drugs and driving under the influence. Before being booked, Williamson was sent to UT Medical Center for medical evaluation. Later that afternoon, officers were informed that Williamson had fled the hospital.

At around 7:15 p.m. on March 19, 2026, U.S. Marshals stopped a rideshare vehicle at Harrison Street and East Magnolia Avenue after it left a home on Woodbine Avenue where investigators believed Williamson was hiding. The passenger, 42‑year‑old Deontaye Bynum, confirmed the Woodbine Avenue home was his and that Williamson had been staying there. A records check showed Bynum is a convicted felon, and a handgun was found in the rear floorboard next to him. KPD Officers responded to that scene and arrested Bynum. He was charged with convicted felon in possession of a weapon.

U.S. Marshals then responded to the Woodbine Avenue residence, where they located and arrested Williamson.

During the arrest, Marshals spotted two bags of white powder, which Williamson confirmed was heroin.

Following the arrest, CERT officers obtained and executed a search warrant for the residence and found approximately 20 grams of crack cocaine, 15 grams of powder cocaine, 1 gram of fentanyl, ammunition and additional drug paraphernalia.

The KPD appreciates the U.S. Marshals Service for their efforts to locate and arrest Williamson.
